It is impossible to resist the determined, driving theme paired with the delicate and captivating melodies of Albeniz’ famous Asturias.

Originally written for solo piano, the piece was conceived as the Prélude to the Chants d’Espagne, published in 1892, and only later received the title Asturias (Leyenda). Despite Asturias being the name of a region in northern Spain, the piece powerfully evokes the distinctive flamenco music of Andalusia.
